Skate-Leading Stars is sports(figure skating) Japanese manga and anime. It is written by Chiaki Nagaoka and illustrated by Sumika Sumio. On December 18, 2020, the manga was first serialized in Monthly G Fantasy under Square Enix.

Heading towards the anime, the anime was first aired on January 10, 2021. Director,  Gorō Taniguchi was the chief director of the anime. Along with Goro, Toshinori Fukushima also directed the anime. As of now, the anime has completed its first season with 12 episodes.

Main Plot

The main plot of the anime is based on a group of high school boys who participated in the competition of figure skating called “skate leading”. The figure skater, Kensei Maeshima stopped his career after his humiliating loss and his rival says “You’ll never beat me”.

Currently, he is a student of Ionodai High School. He uses his skills to support other players without being part of it. Reo announces and moves from single figure skating to team-based skate-leading. Then after he joins St. Clavis Gakuin High School, which was the year’s champions at Grand Prix. Kensei Maeshima classmate Hayato Sasugai suggests he switch from figure skating to skate-leading to defeat his rival.

Kensei then suddenly joins the Ionodai skate-leading club. He was too extraordinary at the single skate but was not able to perform well with the team. They must be together and sync well with each other if they wish to reach the finale of the Grand Prix and defeat the last year champions of Grand Prix St. Clavis Gakuin.

Characters

Kensei Maeshima

Kensei Maeshima is the main protagonist of the Japanese anime series Skate-Leading Stars. He is a student of the Ionodai High School. He was very talented skate from his childhood but left as he loses to his rival. Eventually, he participates and switches from single-figure skate to skate-leading in order to defeat his rival.

The Japanese voice actor and singer, Yūma Uchida provided the voice for Kensei Maeshima. Also, he works for I’m Enterprise. Some of his projects include Classroom Crisis, Boruto, and Grand Blue.

Moving towards the English dubbed version, the American voice actor Stephen Fu. Currently, he works with various talent management companies including FUNimation Entertainment.

Hayato Sasugai

Hayato Sasugai is a character of Skate-Leading Stars. He is also a student of Ionodai High School. Furthermore, he is a younger half-brother of Shinozaki. After his intentions, Kensei decides to help him and they form a team in order to defeat beat his elder half-brother. He has the great ambition of being a coach for skate-leading.

The Japanese voice for the character is provided by the Japanese voice actor and singer Makoto Furukawa. Once, he was affiliated with SpaceCraft Entertainment.

The English voice artist, Jack Reeder voiced the character.

Reo Shinozaki

Reo Shinozaki is the younger half-brother of Hayato Sasugai. Also, is a student of St. Cavis Gakuen High School. Reo Shinozkai told Kensei Maeshima to never come back and give up on skating at his child’s age. Due to this even Kensei Maeshima lefts skating for a long period of time.

The Japanese voice for the character is contributed by the Japanese voice actor, singer, and narrator Hiroshi Kamiya. He is affiliated with Aoni Production. In addition to that, he also is the recipient of the best lead actor at the 3rd Seiyu Awards along with Best Personality awards.

Heading towards the English dubbed version, the American voice actor and ADR director Daman Mills has provided the voice. Some of his projects include Dragon Ball Super, UQ Holder! and Platinum End.

Akimitsu Mochizuki

Akimitsu Mochizuki is the older brother of Yukimitsu Mochizuki. He is a student of Ionodai High School.

He has the role of a flyer in his team as his body is very small. Flyers are the ones who lift one the air for doing the stunts. Taking about his friendship, He develops a good friendship with Kensei Maeshima.

The Japanese voice for the character is portrayed by the Japanese voice actor Reiou Tsuchida. He is affiliated with 81 Produce.

Also, the English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actor Y. Chang. Some of his projects include Akudama Drive, Fruits Basket, and Horimiya.

Yukimitsu Mochizuki

Yukimitsu Mochizuki is the main character in Skate-Leading Stars. The name of his younger brother is Akimitsu Mochizuki. He is a third-year student of Ionodai High School. Because of his medical injury, he left the team.

The Japanese voice actor Natsuki Hanae voiced the character, Yukimitsu Mochizuki, for the Japanese voice. Also, he is affiliated with Across Entertainment.

The American voice actress Meli Grant provided the English voice for this character. She has also worked for FUNimation Entertainment, Bang Xoom! Entertainment,  Sound Cadence Studios, and Media Blasters. Some of her projects include Fairy Tail, Black Clover, and Angels of Death.

Hajime Ishikawa

Hajime Ishikawa is the younger twin brother of Susumu Ishikawa. She is a student of Chutei University Kamimaezu High School.

The Japanese voice actor and narrator Hirofumi Nojima provided the Japanese voice for this character. He is affiliated with Aoni Production. Some of his projects include Death Note, Inazuma Eleven, and Blast of Tempest.

Noa Kuonji

Noa Kuonji is the character of the Japanese anime series Skate-Leading Stars. He is a student of Yokohama Super Global High School.

The Japanese voice for the character is provided by the Japanese voice actor and singer Sōma Saitō. He is affiliated with 81 Produce and Sacra Music

Moving towards the English dubbed version, the American audio engineer and voice actor Kim Morton. He has also worked for FUNimation Entertainment.

Itsuki Kiriyama

Itsuki Kiriyama is a student of Ionodai High School. Even more, he is the vice-captain of his team.

The Japanese voice artist, Tomoaki Maeno provided the voice to the character. Some of his projects include Genshin Impact, Death Parade, and Brothers Conflict.

Whereas, the English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actor Keith Silverstein. In 2017, he has won the BTVA Anime Dub Voice Acting Award.

Tomoyuki Kubota

Tomoyuki Kubota is the character of the Japanese anime series Skate-Leading Stars. He is a student of Ionodai High School. Talking about his nature, He is a very young and kind boy.

The Japanese voice for the character is portrayed by Japanese voice actor Gen Satō. He is affiliated with I’m Enterprise.

Heading towards the English dubbed version, the American voice actor Khoi Dao provided the voice. Some of his projects include Demon Slayer, Detective Conan, and Kuroko’s Basketball.

Sota Jonouchi

Sota Jonouchi is a student of Ionodai High School. Furthermore, he is addicted to drugs like heroin.

The Japanese voice for the character is provided by the Japanese actor, voice actor, and singer Shōya Chiba. Some of his projects include Classroom of the Elite and 86.

Toranosuke Kurayoshi

Toranosuke Kurayoshi is the character of the Japanese anime series Skate-Leading Stars. He is a student of St. Cavis Gakuen High.

The Japanese voice actor Kaito Takeda provided the voice for this character. Some of his projects include One Punch Man, Ahiru No Sora, and 2.43: Seiin Koukou Danshi Volleyball-bu.

The American voice actor Aaron Michael has provided the English voice.

Izumi Himekawa

Izumi Himekawa is an old student of Ionodai High School but as of now, he is a student of Kogahara High School. He was the lead skater of the Ionodai skate-leading club when he was in Ionodai High School.

The Japanese voice for the character is contributed by Japanese voice actor Yūichirō Umehara. He is affiliated with Arts Vision. Even more, he received the Best Rookie Actors Reward at the 10th Seiyu Awards.

Moving towards the English dubbed version, the American voice actor Christopher Wehkamp. Some of his projects include My Hero Academia, Darwin’s Game, and Dr. Stone.

Taiga Himuro

Taiga Himuro is also the main character of the Japanese anime series Skate-Leading Stars. He is a student of St. Cavis Gakuen High.

Moving towards the voice artist, Yuuki Ono portrayed the character. Currently, he is working as a freelancer. In addition to that, the American voice actor, J Michael Tatum provided the voice for Taiga.

Susumu Ishikawa

Susumu Ishikawa is the older twin brother of Hajime Ishikawa. As well as he studies at Chutei Kamimaezu High School.

The Japanese voice for this character is provided by Japanese voice actor and singer Kenji Nojima. Currently, he works for the voice talent agency Aoni Production. Some of his projects include Galaxy Angel, OverDrive, and Psycho-Pass 2.

Heading towards the English dubbed version, the American voice actor Bryson Baugus provided the voice. He works for Funimation and Sentai Filmworks.

Shotaro Terauchi

Shotaro Terauchi is the character of the Japanese anime series Skate-Leading Stars. He happens to be a student of Ionodai High School. Also, he is the captain of the Ionodai skate-leading club.

Voice actor, Satoshi Hino contributed his voice to the character. For the English dubbed voice, Ian Sinclair voiced the character. Some of his projects include Fairy Tail, Future Diary, and One Piece.
