Rent-A-Girlfriend

Rent-A-Girlfriend is a romantic comedy and harem Japanese anime and manga series. The manga was first serialized on July 12 2017 in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. Also, the manga is written and illustrated by Manga Artist, Reiji Miyajima.

Moving towards the anime, the anime was first serialized on July 11, 2020, on English Network, Animax. The anime is directed by the director Kazuomi Koga. As well, the series has also been adapted into television drama which was serialized on July 3, 2022.

Main Plot

The main plot of the anime follows a young 20 years boy whose name is Kazuya Kinoshita. In addition, he also has a very good-looking girlfriend whose name is Mami Nanami. But, without any reason, she broke up with him. To get out of the breakup phase he hired a rental girlfriend from an online app. From it, he finds a girl, Chizuru Mizuhara as a rental girlfriend.

Additionally, while checking her profile Kazuya finds out that she had been in relationships with many others. Whereas, he is also one of them and only used for such acts. Suddenly, he finds out that his mother is ill and hospitalized. As a result, they both have to act as if they are lovers. Further, the thing is on them as to when can they act as lovers.

Main Characters

Kazuya Kinoshita

Kazuya Kinoshita is the main protagonist of the series. As of now, he is reading at Nerima university. Furthermore, he also lives alone in the apartment which is located at 203 Royal Hills near his university. Because of his personality, he ends up lying to people around him.

Whereas, those lies also made up him into trouble. Along with it, he is a very emotional type of boy. Also, he tells lies just to avoid problems while those lies become the ones to drag him towards the problem. Later, he just dates his rental girlfriend Chizura just to make his grandmother happy.

Chizuru Ichinose

Chizuru Ichinose is also known by her other name, Chizuru Mizuhara. Along with Kazuya, she is also reading at Nerima university. Even more, her current home is near the home of Kazuya. Further, she is working in the dating app as a rental girlfriend. Also, she looks very beautiful.

From her first look, everyone notices her as a very kind type of girl. Though she is kind sometimes she appears kind of rude to people around her. She is very sensitive towards her rating on the dating app and feels embarrassed if she gets a low rating. As well as she is also involved in relationships act to make Kazuya’s grandmother happy.

Mami Nanami

Mami Nanami is an antagonist of the Japanese manga and anime series Rent-A-Girlfriend. In addition, she is the one who gives breaks up with Kazuya without letting him know why she broke up. The reason she broke up with him was she found a new boy for her.

Also, she uses the advantage of her beauty. In front of many people, she tends to be a very cute person whereas she is a very manipulative person from the inside. Furthermore, she gets into such a natural when she is around Chizure and Kazuya. Though, she broke up with Kazuya she still gives attention to him and starts to gain information about him.

Ruka Sarashina

Ruka Sarashina is a very mysterious girl in the anime. Because her heartbeat is very different than any normal person’s. The reason for it is her heart beats slower than any normal person’s. Whereas, she is seeking any boy who can love her knowing her situation too. Most of the time, she used to keep her short hair.

Though, she is suffering from such kinds of problems she seems to very cheerful and kind person. Even more, she is very honest around her friends. So, most of her friends love her. Additionally, she wants to have a boyfriend because she thinks that making a boyfriend will help her heartbeat rate to change as of a normal person.

Sumi Sakurasawa

Sumi Sakurasawa is a very young girl reading in her first year in high school. As well as, she also works as a rental girlfriend along with Chizure. Also, she is new to working as a rental girlfriend. Though she is working as a rental girlfriend, she is very shy in nature. Additionally, she feels very difficult to talk to people and when she speaks she speaks in a very soft voice.

This problem made her difficult to work as a rental girlfriend. Along, with it, she used to think about unnecessary things a lot. Further, she captures her in most of the scenarios where she is not even involved.

Mini Yaemori

Mini Yaemori is a student of Nerima university who used to do a live stream and is a YouTuber. Mainly, she used to stream on Nicolive and Twitcasting. In addition, she has a very childish type of personality. Her willingness to know things more makes her act different.

Even though she has such childish behavior she is very good at managing various types of projects. As well, she loves doing cosplay like modern girls, which made her talk about romantic topics a lot.

Golden Time is also a romantic anime like Rent-A-Girlfriend. The art of the anime follows a boy Banri. Also, he is suffering from a disease that made him forget about his past. In addition, he travels to Tokyo for his further studies and meets Mitsuo there. Mitsuo advises him to forget about the past and move on in his life.

Moving, on they both fall in love with each other. As well, it becomes harder when Mitsuo wants attention most of the time. Because of the romance, the two seem to be similar whereas this anime does not have a harem type of genre.

A Couple of Cuckoos

A Couple of Cuckoos is also a very amazing anime to watch. The main plot of the anime is about Nagi and Erika. They both got swapped during their birth. Erika stands to be a very famous person. Later, they both realized they were swapped while they were born.

Also, their family even wants them to be together in order to connect the two families. While both of them reject it, and they start to live in an apartment Erika’s father gave them. Additionally, they live there having a fake love relationship.

Love and Lies

Love and Lies is also different anime revolving around the future. Where the marriage is decided by the government. When a person is 16, years old he receives a notice about with whom he is going to be married.

In such a way, Nejima was about to get a notice who is reading in high school. Though, he was going to get noticed he has a crush on Misaki. While Misaki already knows that he has another person on his notice and that was the truth. The anime takes a different turn, when the girl on notice, Ririna starts to help the relationship between Nejima and Misaki.
