Rust-Eater Bisco is an adventure and Post-apocalyptic Japanese anime and light novel series. The light novel is illustrated by the Manga Artist, K Akagishi Mocha, and written by Shinji Cobkubo. On March 10, 2018, the light novel was released by ASCII Media Works. Also, In April 2019 the manga was adapted and serialized in Square Enix’s online manga magazine Manga Up!.

Moving towards the anime, the anime was first aired on January 11, 2022, in the Network, Tokyo MX. The anime is directed by the director Atsuhi Itagaki and written by Sadayuki Murai.

Main Plot

A wind containing the plague flows all over Japan. Living beings as well as nonliving beings who come in contact with it become rust. People believe that it is caused by one of the mushrooms. The story follows Bisco Akaboshi, who is known as the Man-Eating Mushroom. Bisco is a wanted criminal whose archer landing anywhere, grows a mushroom.

Furthermore, he is a Mushroom Protector. To enrich the quality of the soil good, he usually spreads the mushroom. Along with a young doctor, Milo Nekoyanagi and crab Akutagawa travel towards the wasteland of Japan. With the motive of finding the Sabikui, and eradicating it.

Characters Of Rust-Eater Bisco

1. Bisco Akaboshi

Bisco Akaboshi is also known as a Man-Eating Mushroom. Furthermore, he also has a bounty on his head by the Japanese Government. The government thinks that he is a mushroom terrorist. When his father and mentor have the various effects of the Rust. Then, he starts the journey towards the wasteland of Japan. Though he has a powerful weapon it is not allowed to kill monks through it. Even more, it cannot kill from the very ranged place. To enter the place he wants, he also turns himself into a monk.

The Japanese voice for the character is provided by the Japanese voice actor, Ryōta Suzuki. Ryōta is affiliated with VIMS Talent Agency.

Moving towards the English dubbed version, the American voice actor Kyle Igneczi provided the voice.

2. Pawoo Nekoyanagi

Pawoo Nekoyanagi is a supporting character in Rust-Eater Bisco. In addition, being in a bed he watches Bisco Akaboshi reaching Imihama. Moreover, she wants to dress up and fight him as a captain. Moving on, Milo tries to stop her, but Pawoo knocks him out and runs away to protect him. As well, Pawoo decides to pursue Bisco and Milo. After, she arrives in Shimotsuka and discovers a flat tire. Then, she hears a guy pleading for assistance and sees a couple about to be killed by a monstrous spider, which she goes to save.

The Japanese voice for the character is portrayed by the Japanese voice actress and singer Reina Kondō. Reina is affiliated with the Hirata Office.

Whereas, the English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actress Anastasia Munoz.

3. Milo Nekoyanagi

Milo Nekoyanagi is a beautiful doctor who owns a clinic. Furthermore, his clinic is in Imihama. Due to his black bruise on the left eye, he is often called Panda Sensei. In addition, Milo is assisting Imihama residents as he can. Also, he tries to synthesize medicine from anything to discover a cure for his sister’s rust. While on the Journey Milo finds out they are heading in the wrong direction. While assisting Jabi, Jabi informs him that mushrooms do not cause rust. But rather consume it. However, this is a long process.

The Japanese voice for the character is contributed by the Japanese voice actor Natsuki Hanae. Natsuki is affiliated with Aoni Production.

Heading towards the English dubbed version, the American voice actor Brandon Mclnnis provided the voice.

4. Tirol Ochagama

Tiro Ochagama is a beautiful girl with hair like a jellyfish. Also, Tirol sells her services to Kurokawa and goes outside of Imihama to kill Bisco Akaboshi with her Escargot. On the other hand, Bisco surprises her by destroying her Escargot fighter. While fighting with Bisco she was easily defeated. Furthermore, she eventually begs for her life and declares that she will change careers. After then, Tirol finds an opportunity and escapes whereas Pawoo attacks Bisco. Later, after escaping she encounters Milo who is attempting to travel towards Actagawa.

The Japanese voice for the character is played by the Japanese voice actress and singer, Miyu Tomita.

Also, the English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actress Brittney Karbowski.

5. Kurokawa

Kurokawa is a governor. Moreover, he always comments that charity and deals are for self-consolation. Additionally, he wonders how many more synthesizers is going to waste while treating Pawoo. Then, Kurokawa then invites him to work for him. Thinking that he will earn a lot of money and be able to afford Rusting treatments. Also, Bisco fires an arrow at that precise moment which lands near Kurokawa and Milo and sprouting mushrooms. As well, Kurokawa enlists the help of his men to protect him. In addition, Tirol informs Kurokawa that while she was unable to end Bisco.

The Japanese voice for the character is voiced by the Japanese actor, voice actor, narrator, and film director Kenjiro Tsuda.

The English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actor Josh Putnam.

6. Jabi

Jabi is a supporting character of Rust-Eater Bisco. Along with Bisco, he fails to cross the Gunma border. When they fail, Bisco launches them over the wall with a king-trumped mushroom. They make a nighttime stop near Imihama. Furthermore, Jabi recognizes that his Rust is reaching his lungs and that he will die soon. But Bisco refuses to listen. Moreover, Tirol attacks them with her Escargot fighter, and Jabi defends Bisco with his body injuring himself severely. Even more, Bisco transports Jabi to Imihama in search of a doctor.

The Japanese voice for the character is provided by the Japanese actor and voice actor Shirō Saitō.

Moving towards the English dubbed version, the American voice actor David Novinski provided the voice.

7. Plum

Plum is also a supporting character in Rust-Eater Bisco. Furthermore, Milo notices Plum’s arm and she says it is because of rusting. Everyone in town has it, and because the medicine is so expensive. The adults have no choice but to work. Furthermore, Milo discloses that her illness is a simple shell skin, not rust.

Also, he heals all of the town’s children and provides Plum with the recipe for the medicine. So that they can continue to make it. The settlement is attacked by flying blowfish, but Bisco defeats them. Later, Plum requests Milo to stay as they are about to depart. Because they need him but Milo says that she is more needed here than he is.

8. Actagawa

Actagawa is a very big crab that can carry a person on its back. The crab is also called a tetsugami. In addition, Actagawa joins Bisco Akaboshi and Jabi on their journey. And assists them in crossing several countries.

When they get to Imihama and Jabi is hurt, Bisco urges Actagawa to wait for them. Later, they depart leaving him in the city. When leaving to Imihama, Bisco buries him despite the heat. Even, Milo Nekoyanagi gets to ride him but throws off. They try again, but the conclusion is the same. At last, Bisco says that Actagawa has dignity and can’t just let anyone ride him.

9. Kousuke

Kousuke is the character of Rust-Eater Bisco. When Kousuke notices a watermelon and goes to get it. Bisco Akaboshi notices it as well. Then, Bisco captures Kousuke before he can get it, intending to seize it. Nuts and other children suddenly appear, brandishing firearms at Bisco and Milo Nekoyanagi. Believing they are working for Kurokawa. Bisco ends up disclosing. Also, he is a wanted criminal to prove they are not. And the children arrest him in exchange for a reward. After which they take Bisco to jail. As Milo heals the town’s youngsters. Nuts leave Bisco in the care of Kousuke as he visits the other children.

10. Nuts

Nuts is a resident of Tetsujin Town. Also, Nuts and the kids believe Bisco and Milo are Kurokawa kidnappers. So they point their firearms at them. As well, Nuts doesn’t believe they’re on their way north because the region is known for its scarcity of water and food. Even more, Bisco ends up disclosing he is a wanted criminal to prove they are not. And the children arrest him in exchange for a reward. In addition, they transport Bisco and Milo back to their hometown. Later, Nuts and Kousuke leave Plum to look for Milo as they go to jail Bisco.
