Ranking of Kings
Ranking of Kings is coming-of-age, fantasy comedy manga, and anime series. The manga artist, Sōsuke Tōka is the illustrator of the anime. Whereas, the anime is written by Taku Kishimoto. On May 21, 2017, the manga was first serialized online via Echoes’ user-submitted Manga Hack website.
Later, the anime aired on October 15, 2021, on Fuji TV. The anime directors, Yōsuke Hatta and Makoto Fuchigami directed the anime.
Ranking of Kings- Main Plot
The main plot of anime is based on a brave young prince Bojji. Bojji can neither speak nor hear for which people call him “The Useless Prince”. Though he might be weak physically he is very kind and strong from his heart.
When an accidental meeting with a shadow monster should have left him terrified, it instead leads him to assume that he has made a friend among those who are just interested in pointing out his flaws. He begins meeting with Kage, the shadow, regularly, and the normally harsh monster begins to warm up to him.
The unexpected bond between Kage and Bojji provides the groundwork for the prince’s journey to overcome his worries and insecurities. Despite the frequent teasing by people, Bojji is determined to achieve his goal of becoming the finest king he can be.
Ranking of Kings- Characters
1. Bojji of Ranking of Kings
Bojji is the main protagonist of the series and the prince of kingdom Bosse. The young king was born deaf and tiny. Despite being deaf and tiny, Bojji aspires to be a powerful king like his father and always attempts to smile in front of others. He’s recognized a lot of surprising allies and the ability to understand what people are saying. By reading the lips. Following Daida’s ceremony, he and his new friend Kage set off on a journey.
The Japanese voice for the character is provided by the Japanese voice actress Minami Hinata. Currently, Minami works for Axl One as a voice actor.
Moving towards the English dubbed version, the voice is provided by the American voice actress Emily Fajardo.
2. Kage of Ranking of Kings
Kage is the last member to survive from the shadow clan. Bojji used to spend a lot of time with him. Also, Kage was born into a clan of assassins and watched his entire family being slain by the kingdom they served when he was a small child. After escaping, he was taken advantage of by a gangster, who eventually turned him out for his money. Kage grew up exploiting his clan’s powers to make a living by stealing things. Eventually, he meets Bojji and is a good friend with him. Bebin assigns him the job of following and protecting Bojji on their journey.
The Japanese voice for the character is contributed by the Japanese voice actor Ayumu Murase. Ayumu is affiliated with the agency VIMS.
Heading towards the English dubbed version, the voice is provided by the American YouTuber and voice actor SungWon Cho.
3. Daida of Ranking of Kings
Daida is Bojji’s younger-half brother. Likewise, Bojji is also a hard worker and has an arrogance that resembles his father. Even Daida is privately the enemy of his brother, whom he believes was able to win everyone’s love and given the throne without doing any effort. Magic Mirror controlled him in the days which leads to the reincarnation of Bosse.
The Japanese voice for the character is portrayed by the Japanese actor, voice actor, and singer Yuki Kaji. Yuki is affiliated with the agency VIMS. At the third Seiyu Awards, he won the Best Roklie Actor Award.
Whereas, the English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actor Justin Briner. Some of his projects include My Hero Academia, Black Clover, and Dr. Stone.

4. Hiling
Hiling is the stepmother of Bojji whereas the mother of Daida. She used to be more affected toward Bojji, but after Daida’s birth, she developed a harder and more practical approach to royal issues, eventually declaring Bojji is not able to rule. Despite her bad criticisms of Bojji, she cherishes him as much as her son, devoting most of her energy to healing any injuries he gets.
The Japanese voice actress, Rina Sato contributed her voice to the character. Sato is also a professional singer. Rina also works for Haikyō. In the 8th Seiyu Awards, she won the Best Lead Actress Award.
Also, the English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actress and ADR script writer Louisa Michelle Christian.
5. Domas
Domas is a great swordsman of kingdom Bosse. His strength seems similar to king Bosse’s strength. Because of his strength, he was assigned to be Bojji’s tutor, and while he adores the prince, he decided that he would never be able to match. To reinforce his dedication to a single rule order he tried to kill Bojji by forcing him to Underworld’s Hole. Later he cuts off his right hand because of regret.
The Japanese voice for the character is voiced by the Japanese voice actor and singer Takuya Eguchi. Takuya is affiliated with 81 Produce.
The English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actor, director, and producer A.J. Locascio.
6. Bebin
Bebin is the teacher of Daida, who cares deeply for his lord. At bay, he also helped to keep the Magic Mirror. Being a snake tamer, he uses a shuriken. Also, he attempted to assassinate Apeas on Daida’s orders. Apeas was killed illegally. Furthermore, he dispatches Kage to give company for Bojji and assist him in his development.
The Japanese voice actor, Yōji Ueda provided the voice for the character. As of now, she works for Amuleto as a voice actor. Before that, he worked with Mausu Production.
Moving towards the English dubbed version, the American voice actor Luis Bermudez provided the voice.

7. Hokuro
Hokuro is a low-ranking knight who always cares for Bojji. As he was the only knight who knew sign language, he was assigned to follow Bojji on his journey. Also, he was responsible for looking after his personal needs. After betraying the kingdom, his dignity being a knight make him return kingdom even risking his life.
Just before his execution, Doma rescued him and provides training to become stronger.
The Japanese voice for the character is contributed by the Japanese voice actor Daiki Yamashita. Daiki is affiliated with Arts Vision. At the 8th Seiyu Awards, he won the Best Male Newcomer Award.
Heading towards the English dubbed version, the American voice actor Bryce Papenbrook provided the voice.
8. Bosse
Bosse is the former king. He is the father of Bojji and Daida. From his looks, he seems very giant and expresses himself as the powerful person of the world. But he chose to steal power from his son to make a bargain with a demon. Bosse eventually felt guilt for his actions and decided to become king and construct a country to assure Bojji provide everything he ever desired. He is born again in Daida’s body after that.
The Japanese voice for the character is portrayed by the Japanese voice actor and narrator Kenta Miyake. Kenta is a voice talent of the voice talent management firm, 81 Produce.
Whereas, the English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actor Cris George.
9. Ōken
Ōken is the middle brother of Desha and Despa. Moreover, he is also a commander of the Order of the Underworld. Once, he was a good-hearted prince who vowed to start a knightly order dedicated to his ideals. Because of mastering swordsmanship, he is also popular as “Sword King of the Underworld.” He becomes a monster without guilt giving mental and physical pain for people to gain immortality. Progressively, that destroyed his humanity. Both of his brothers were forced to put him in Underworld where he remained until freed by Miranjo. While Miranjo wanted was to conquer the Bosse Kingdom.
The Japanese voice, Kōji Yusa voiced the character. Yusa is also a narrator by profession. Some of his projects include Bleach, Battle Vixens, and Kamen Rider Den-O.
Also, the English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actor, Shawn Gann.
10. Magic Mirror
The magic mirror is a mysterious mirror that provides advice for Daida. The woman named Miranjo spirit is sealed inside of the mirror where her body is imprisoned in ice in the palace’s basement with a group of other terrifying monsters. Miranjo is served by two bodyguards who used to participate in Apeas’ to become a high-ranking official. The one who created the vessel for Bosse’s reincarnation was her, describing herself as Bosse’s joys and sorrows.
The Japanese voice, Maaya Sakamoto portrayed the character. Sakamoto is also a professional singer. In this anime world, she started her journey as a voice actor in 1992 as Chifuru in Little Twins.
Moving towards the English dubbed version, the American voice actress, Brianna Roberts provided the voice. Some of her projects include Attack On Titan, Fairy Tail, and One Piece.
