Future Diary

Future Diary is a mystery, psychological thriller, and romance Japanese manga and anime series. The manga was written and illustrated by the Manga Artist, Sakae Esuno. On January 26, 2006, the manga was first serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Shōnen Ace.

Moving towards the anime, the anime was first aired on October 10, 2011, in Network, Chiba TV. The anime is directed by the director Naoto Hosoda and written by Katsuhiko Takayama.

Main Plot

The main plot of the anime is based on a high school boy, Yukiteru Amano. Moreover, he spends his time writing his diary. Also, he used to talk with his imaginary friend Deus Ex Machina. His imaginary friend is the god of time and space. Furthermore, Deus provides him with a diary that has future events of 30 days. With which he plays the survival game with other 11 who hold future diaries.

As well as the diary of 11 people is different from each other. The person who survives and becomes the last standing will be rewarded as the new god of time and space. In the game, Yukiteru teams up with a girl named Yuno Gasai. Yuno Gasai seems to protect Yukiteru Amano. But what intention she has is still to be found.

Characters of Future Diary

1. Yuno Gasai of Future Diary

Yuno Gasai is the main protagonist of the series. She owns a diary name diary of love. Which provides the future activities of Yukiteru. Even more, she also shows love interest towards him. Yuno was adopted at a young age. Her mother used to abuse her and lock her. And she manages to get out of it and put her parents inside the cage. Moreover, she locks her parents inside it as a punishment. To complete her goals she can take advantage of others without hesitation.

The Japanese voice for the character is provided by the Japanese voice actress, Tomoto Murasa.

Moving towards the English dubbed version, the American voice and television actress Brina Palencia provided the voice.

2. Yukiteru Amano of Future Diary

Yukiteru Amano is a lonely high school student. Additionally, he is the first one to get the diary. Yuno Gasai falls in love with him. In the many difficult situations, he acts like a cry baby. Despite his cry baby behavior he wants to become the god surviving the game. After the Aru’s message while dying makes him lose trust in Yuno. The first World’s Yukiteru shows that he was braver in the past than he is now. Besides it, he is very talented at throwing darts. Even at the close range, he can use it easily to stab people.

The Japanese voice for the character is contributed by the Japanese voice actress, voice actress, and singer Misuzu Togashi. Misizu is affiliated with Ken Production.

3. Aru Akise

Aru Akise is a friend of Yukiteru Amano. Also, he is very intelligent and wants to become a great detective in the future. His main motive of him in the game was to witness the events. Investigating Yukiteru and Yuno, he makes Yuno his rival. Despite he was involved in the game he wants Yukiteru to become the god. Similarly, like his passion, he also has a detective diary. After all, he was pinned by a knife in his throat by Yuno. In addition, he is also good in hand to hand and close combats.

The Japanese voice for the character is portrayed by the Japanese actor and voice actor Akira Ishida. Some of his projects include Level C, Fire Emblem, and Berserk.

Whereas, the English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actor and director Todd Haberkorn.

4. Minene Uryuu

Minene Uryuu is the 9th diary holder. In addition, she has an escape diary. From the escape diary, she can find the escape route easily. Because of living alone in her childhood, she thinks she does not need anyone to live with. As well she is very good at explosives and bombs. Whereas she also bombs Yukiteru’s school building. Her parents dying at a small age makes her hate gods. Later, she provides help to Yukiteru too.

The Japanese voice for the character is played by the Japanese voice actress and singer Mai Aizawa. Mai is affiliated with Aoni Production. In this anime world, she is known for providing a voice for anime like Nichijou, Lucky Star, and Clannad.

Also, the English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actress, ADR director, and scriptwriter Emily Neves.

5. Tsubaki Kasugano

Tsubaki Kasugano is the high priest of Omekata Religion. As well as she has a diary named Clairvoyance Diary. Though others’ diary seems to be electronic her diary is a long scroll with green color. With the help of her diary, she can control her surroundings in which her followers are. Having poor eyesight she was kept in the temple for her protection. Even more, she tries to capture Yuno and Yukiteru. At last, she was killed by Yukiteru with his dart hitting her diary.

The Japanese voice for the character is voiced by the Japanese actress and voice actress Eri Sendai.

The English voice for the character is provided by the American stage and voice actress Kate Bristol.

6. Muru Muru

Muru Muru is the assistant of Deus. Later, she appears as the antagonist of the series plotting behind Deus’s back. And changing the plot of the game. Despite her loyalty to god, she gives Yuno the idea to travel to the new world. As well as play the game again. The second self of her playing the game. Moreover, she also possesses supernatural powers. The one her power is she can teleport herself. In addition, she can trap people in illusion. The power of Muru Muru is collected in her bracelet.

The Japanese voice for the character is provided by the Japanese voice actress Manami Honda

7. Deus Ex Machina

Deus Ex Machina is the god of time and space. Also, he creates the future diary and the survival game to find the successor before his death. As well as he is a very powerful character in the series as he can control the time and laws of cause and effect. Furthermore, he becomes an imaginary friend with Yukiteru and provides him with a diary. Though, Minene has no belief in god Deus has a unique relationship with her. John is his good friend. Together they make the future diary. Besides it, he may also rewind the time.

The Japanese voice for the character is contributed by the Japanese voice actor Norio Wakamoto. Norio is affiliated with the Sigma Seven talent agency.

Heading towards the English dubbed version, the American voice actor Kent Williams provided the voice.

8. Takao Hiyama

Takao Hiyama is the teacher of Yukiteru Amano and Yuno Gasai. Even more, he is the third diary holder. Additionally, he is a serial that kills women with the help of a large knife. The diary he has is a Murder diary. Through his diary, he can predict the murder of his victims. Similarly, the diary tells him how and when he kills the victim. However, he does not know if the victims try to protect themselves or not. Thinking that he is very weak in the survival game, Muru Muru eliminates him at the first in the survival game.

The Japanese voice for the character is portrayed by the Japanese voice actor Jin Domon.

Whereas, the English voice for the character is provided by the American film, television, and voice actor Jason Douglas. Some of his projects include Dragon Ball Z, Borderlands 2, and Attack On Titan.

9. John Bacchus

John Bachhus is the creator of the future diaries. As well as he is the last revealed future diary user in the series. Creating the future diary was his and Deus’s plan to make a survival game. Even more, he is the mayor of Sakurami City. The diary he has is Watcher’s diary. Through his diary, he can watch the entries of every diary’s users. To trick him dirty users can rewrite the diary. Muru Muru also said that he has 91.02% to win the game.

The Japanese voice for the character is played by the Japanese voice actor Takaya Hashi.

Also, the English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actor Christopher Corey Smith.

10. Hinata Hino

Hinata Hino is the tenth diary holder. Moreover, she is the friend of Yukiteru at his new school. As well as Hinata borrowed her father’s diary. The name of her diary is The Breeder Diary. Through the diary, she can predict movements by her father’s dog. The target that the dog makes is easily predicted by her. Later she owns her diary which name is Friendship Diary. The diary provides her with the future of her every friend.

The Japanese voice for the character is voiced by the Japanese actress, voice actress, and narrator Yuki Matsuoka.

The English voice for the character is provided by the American voice actress, ADR director, and scriptwriter Caitlin Glass.
