Giyu Tomioka is a current Water Hashira in the Japanese anime series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He uses the Water Breathing style.
Throughout the series, he provides guidance to Tanjiro throughout the series.
Who are the voice actors for Giyu Tomioka?
The Japanese voice for the character is provided by the Japanese voice actor, Takahiro Sakurai. Whereas the English voice for the character is contributed by the American voice actor, Johnny Yong Bosch.
Giyu Tomioka: Appearance
Moving towards appearance, Giyu is a young man with a height of 5 feet 9 inches (176 cm). Also, he has a weight of 69 kg. The color of his hair is black, whereas he has dark blue eyes. Most of the time, he wears haori, which has a pattern of green, orange, and yellow. As well, he seems like a serious person without any emotions.
Giyu Tomioka: Backstory
Heading toward his backstory, his sister Tsutako Tomioka died when he was very young. She sacrifices herself to the demon in order to save Giyu before the day of her wedding. It makes him mentally ill and is sent to his relatives, one of whom is a doctor. Giyu tried to run away from there and nearly died in the mountains.
Later, Giyu was rescued by Sakonji Urokodaki. As well, he grows along with his new friend, Sabito. In addition, he also gave his final selection along with Sabito. At the selection, a demon injured him, and Sabito was able to save him. But he finds that Sabito was the only one who was killed in the selection. As a result, he is now able to stand as a Hashira.

The Breathing Style of Giyu Tomioka is known as Water Breathing Style. Adding on, his breathing style follows the flow, flexibility, and adaptation of the water. There are 10 forms of the Water Breathing Style. The name and form of the Water Breathing Style are as follows:

Sword of Giyu Tomioka
The name of the sword of Giyu Tomioka is Blue Nichirin Blade. This blade actually symbolizes the water. Along with his sword, he uses Water Breathing Style which makes his style more efficient. Also, he moves with fluidity and effortlessly. This combo of his sword and breathing style helps him kill Father Spider Demon and Rui in one motion with each kill.
Giyu Tomioka’s Love Interest
In the series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba, there is no confirmed love interest for Giyu Tomioka. Whereas heading on towards the series, he develops a good bond with the main protagonist of the series, Tanjiro. Throughout the series, he seems like a serious and emotionless person. As of now, he has no love interest in the series.

In battle, he has very good stamina and endurance. One example is that he was able to slash Akaza, even getting multiple injuries from him.

Along with his fighting ability, he has a huge amount of strength too. We were able to see it when he was trying to capture Nezuko and Tanjiro. At the same time, he was able to create a huge gust of wind with a single slash of the sword.

Giyu was able to get his Demon Slayer Mark during the fight with Akaza. His demon slayer mark looks fluid, like a water design. Adding on, his demon slayer mark helps him get more speed, precision, and endurance.

Giyu Tomioka vs Tanjiro
In the early episodes of the series, he finds that Nezuko has recently turned into a demon. As a result, he tries to catch Nezuko, whereas Tanjiro keeps stopping him. Even more, he was amazed to see Tanjiro pulling different tricks just to stop him.
Giyu Tomioka vs Rui
Rui is one of the lower-rank 5 demons. Giyu comes in the middle of the fight. Tanjiro was having a difficult time in combat. Whereas, Giyu was able to slash Rui using his Breath of Water. As a result, Rui was not able to win over Giyu with her spider-like ability.
Giyu Tomioka vs Akaza
Akaza is an Upper Rank 3 demon who was able to kill Flame Hashira, Rengoku. The battle between Giyu and Akaza takes place in Infinity Castle. Also, Giyu gains his demon slayer mark during the fight with Akaza. Tanjiro and Giyu both were able to defeat Akaza together.
Giyu Tomioka vs Muzan
Muzan Kibitsuji is the main antagonist in the series. In the final battle with Muzan, Giyu also joins in along with other demon slayers. As well, his help was needed in order to kill Muzan.
Will Giyu marry in the series?
We were able to see the reincarnation of many demon slayer characters as humans. For example, Sumijiro and Touko This means he can be an ancestor, which means he will be married in the series. But his marriage is not mentioned in the series. As the generation is followed, there is a higher probability that he will marry someone in the end.
Does Giyu die at the end of the series?
No, Giyu does not die at the end of the series. He was able to live his life more fully after the final fight with Muzan. Along with him, Sanemi also survives the battle with Muzan.
