Shugo Amihama
Shugo Amihama is a supporting character in the Japanese anime series, Re-Main. Amihama is one of the representatives of Yamanami High School as a water polo player. On the team, he is the second-best player besides Minato Kiyomizu.
He is highly competitive when it comes to his elder brother, Riku Momosaki.

The Japanese voice actor and singer, Soma Saito contributed his voice to the character. Saito is a well-known name in the anime industry as a VA. The Voice Actor, Saito was born and brought up in Showa, Yamanashi Prefecture of Japan as the eldest son of his family. He has two younger siblings.
During his High school days, he was highly interested in being a voice actor. At the time, he was highly impressed by the veteran Japanese Voice Actor, Akira Ishida. He loved the voice artist’s characters as Koyemshi in the sci-fi manga, Bokurano: Ours. In addition to that, Saito also dreamt of being a novel writer or a musician.
In the year 2008, he began his career as a voice actor with an audition for 81 Produce. Out of 1035 people, he had selected voice talent in the male category. Following that, he took voice acting classes at 81 Actor’s Studio. At the time, he was still in high school. The following year, he received the Judges Special Prize during the National High School Comprehensive Cultural Festival. He received the award from the voice actress, Nobuyo Ōyama. Apart from that, he also received the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in the year 2019.
Following that, he received various awards. That includes No-Rin, Haikyu!!, Magi: Adventure of Sinbad, Skate Leading Stars. Last, in 2022, he voiced the character, Lie Ren in RWBY. The science fantasy and adventure, RWBY is created by the American animator, Monyreak Oum aka. Monty Oum.
Music Career
Besides being a voice actor, he is an extremely talented music artist too. In 2017, he made his debut as a solo artist with the recording label. on the 7th of June 2017, he launched his first single, Fish Story. The following year, he launched his first music album, Quantum Stranger. In the next year, he launched his first solo live concert, Saito Soma’s 1st LIVE Quantum Strangers. On the 5th of Jun, the Blu-ray edition released the album of the same concert.
Some of his famous characters include Kirina Hiura of Inazuma Eleven Ares no Tenbin, Tadashi Yamaguchi on Haikyū!!, and Kyōichi Ryūgamori in Backflip!! Currently, he is affiliated with 81 produce and Sacra Music.

English Voice Actor
Talking about the English dubbed version, the voice actor, David Matranga. The American Voice Actor, Matranga is highly recognized for his works in association with entertainment companies including Funimation, Bang, Zoom Entertainment, and Sentai Filmworks.
In the year 2000, he started his career with the Japanese Anime series, Generator Gawl. In the series, he provided his voice as an additional character. Following that, he became part of the Japanese Light novel series, Sorcerous Stabber Orphen as Orphen. Last, in 2019, the novel circulated more than 14 million copies of the novel.
Moving forward, he worked for various Japanese Anime including Needless, The Garden of Words, Psycho-Pass, and Haiku!!. Later, in 2016, he received huge success after joining the anime series, My Hero Academia where he voiced the main protagonist, Shoto Todoraki. After the character, Shoto, he never looked back on his voice acting career.
Last, in 2021, he joined anime like Full Dive, The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.

His birth date is the 9th of September. Hence, his sun sign is Virgo. His age is still a mystery. However, he is currently in his teen days. Talking about his family details, the names of his father and mother are not disclosed in the anime yet. However, during confession time with his brother, he stated that his parents are divorced.
Also, he has a different surname than his elder brother, Riku Momosaki as his father is an adopted son-in-law. Riku is also a water polo player. He happens to be an ace at the game. Currently, he represents the water polo club of Shogakukan High School.
Despite sharing a loving bond as a brother, Shugo also has had a sibling rivalry since their childhood days. To win his brother in water sports, he started swimming and became a fast swimmer. However, he left swimming when Momosaki switched to water polo.
Eventually, Shugo also joined the sports when the captain of the water polo club, Jō Jōjima hired him. On the other hand, he is trying to win Riku in water polo.

Does Shugo Amihama hates Minato Kiyomizu?
Not, Shugo holds no grudges against Minato. Despite having a cold personality, he doesn’t have any ill feelings toward Kiyomizu. On the contrary, he has mutual respect and considers himself the biggest competition for him when he discovers his elder brother thinks of him as his biggest rival in the game.
Often, he seems quite amazed by Minato’s ability as the water polo player when he recovers his old memory prior to the car accident. As a result, he silently agrees with the various changes in plans and strategies related to the game.

Shugo Amihama has blue eyes with black hair. Being one of the tallest characters in the series, his height is around 6 feet and 1 inch and has a lean body type.
He has a fair complexion and a charming persona as a young angry man. Being a water athlete, he has quite an amazing body with abs. Talking about his outfits, he wears a white shirt, and blue pants with black shoes. Also, he puts on dark blue blazers which happen to be the uniform of his High School.
Apart from his school uniform, he also puts he also wears tracks and pants as a member of the Yamanami High School Water Polo Players which happens to be color coordinated between the white and blue colors which had the embedded logo with the letter, STRANGE. However, the logo was originally decided to be the word CHANGE.
Besides all his uniforms, the illustrator also made a new look for him which is quite different from the other characters as he wears shorts will playing sports.
Personality
He has a charming personality however, he prefers to maintain a distance from the rest of the people. Also, the illustrators of the anime presented him as a calm person. In the starting, it was quite difficult to convenience him to join the team. Eventually, he joined the team when he found out that his elder brother also joined the water polo sport.
His cold personality might be the result of his childhood when his father and mother got separated from each other. At the same time, he also got separated from his elder brother who happens to be his role model as he remained with his father whereas his elder brother Riku spent the rest of his childhood with his mother. At the same time, he lost his mother, and elder brother who was also his best friend.
Apart from that, he has a high thinking ability. As a result, he can see through all the planning and strategies Minato makes during the middle of the time.
Shugo Amihama- Swimming Skills
When it comes to swimming skills, he is extremely talented. During his junior high days, he was highly motivated to be the best swimmer so that he could defeat his elder brother, Riku and so that he might think Shugo worthy as a brother and competitor. Riku was the one who taught him to swim when they were very young prior to the separation of their parents.
Within his team, he happens to be the fastest swimmer in his team. He won the swimming race when he challenged the entire team to defeat him in swimming. Only in the scenario, he would join the team. Anyway, he joined when he saw that his brother, Riku was playing water polo after leaving swimming.
